There are many things you should consider before putting your home on the market. The traditional thinking is that Spring is the best time of the year to sell your home because the trees are green and flowers are blooming. This, of course gives your home better curb appeal. However, Spring is also when most home sellers put their homes on the market. That means more competition!

In actuality, the best time to put your home on the market is about 60 to 90 days before you want to move. You want to make sure your home is priced right and that it looks good. Take hints from new home builders and make you home look like a model. Show off its strongest features. Try to put your home on the market when the economic signs are good, rates are low, and other properties are selling similar to yours. Look at February and March to get your home on before the Spring rush. Buyers that have been looking during the Fall and Winter seasons will see yours as a fresh new listing. This gives you the jump on others and will usually give you a better price. Buyers that are not happy with their current living arrangements are most likely to buy the first home that meets their needs after a long winter in there old home.
